Our Background

We have over 25 years’ experience as Jewellery Designers and Goldsmiths. After graduating in Jewellery Design from Sheffield Hallam University, Seth Gardner (the founder of SG7 Jewellery) worked within the UK jewellery industry before securing a post working and training as a goldsmith in Italy. He worked there under a master goldsmith for 5 years before returning to Leeds. This is significant because to many in the trade it is Italy that sets the highest of standards for jewellery making and design and has a reputation for being the best in quality, creativity and craft.

In 2003 Seth returned to Leeds to set up SG7 Jewellery in Horsforth in premises that occupy the whole of the first floor above his family run Art gallery. There he established his workshop and adjoining design studio which is where he meets his prospective clients and works through their designs with them. There are few trained Goldsmiths in the UK but there are even fewer who have also trained as Jewellery Designers, it is this that is unique about Seth and the designs he produces. Most bespoke jewellers are either designers or they are goldsmiths. Many designers rely on computer generated designs which are then sent off to be made up by specialist firms then onto a gem setter for the stones to be set. Many goldsmiths are happy to make up other people’s designs but don’t want to be involved in the design process with clients. In Seth and his company (SG7 jewellery) clients have both elements of design and making in one.
